Doesn't matter. It's the preparation of the bed and the quality of the paint that will determine how well it lasts. Poor prep and cheap paint WILL chip. Guaranteed!

ALL paint will chip if abused.

I would use a latex acrylic finish. It is quite durable and is often used as finish on wood trim and wood doors. Most stores have paint called cabinet/ trim paint also. Designed to be used on kitchen and bathroom cabinets.
